16-24kw burner problems

Hi everyone!

We have been using OpOp boiler with Woody(maybe its Scotte, not sure) 16-24kw burner for about 5years now. Our house is about 300m2 and we do get those crispy cold winters.

Couple first years everything seemed to be great. Then suddenly burner started to act silly. Burning was all bad, lot of soot, black smoke and unburned pellets. The flame seemed all wrong when comparing to the manual. Weirdest was that when doing this 6min weighing then that number gave so much pellets to the burner that it clogged the burner. So only solution that seems to work is to "lie". Weighed number was supposed to be 1400g and right now it is running 2050g, plus extra air given with increased Blower values.
And every couple of days there is probably a need to make minor adjustments again.

Boiler temperature is set to 60C and "Over comp" 10. Previous years it warmed to marked temperature and turned the power lower - now it's constantly working on 50-70% power. And then comes a period where it is the opposite - would heat up fast with 100% power and then went to Temp Stop. I didn't change anything...

Now comes the weirdest part :D

Sometimes the burner kind a freezes up - Screen shows everything is fine, power is about 48%, lux99, water 55C. It remains like this for hours - suspicious right?! Then I unplug the cable from burner and pop it back - and suddenly the temperature is 70C and Temp Stop.

Company who installed the system tried to change the chip many times and play with all sort settings with no luck to get it working fine again. Last resort was to change the Control Module, that help a bit but still have to lie with the "pellet number" and Blower values.

Seems like the burner and the control module are not capable to talk to each other or understand...sometimes.

And since first winter when these anomalies occurred I didn't pay that much attention to it - because of that the top part of the burner's casing kind a burned away even... to save the rest of the burner I installed burner grate where you have a protective stone.

Pellets have been from the beginning from the same dealer, they're one of the biggest pellet producers here. So I hope it's good quality.

Getting kind a tired of running back and forward, so maybe anyone has any thoughts...
I'm not on Stokercloud with it but the burner is connected to a pc so maybe some log files might be helpful?

What about the capacitor to the fan, has it been replaced? Otherwise I think that it can help the the combustion to replace it.

The fan capacitor is still the original, fan seems to be working. The controller is giving funny values...or something. Would the capacitor cause all those problems?

Replacing the capacitor helps, of course, only in the combustion.
But it's a good idea to fix one problem at a time.
It is important not to lie for the autocalculator. Weigh pills and set the right weight in the autocalculator, then adjust the air 10-50-100%

it had been a great help if the controller was online.

if the auto calculator is not correct the burner will run at at higher effect as it gets too little to feed on so that is no good you can cheat maybe 100 g but not that must.If you raised it by 650 g you will only have maybe 8-10 kw effect left in the burner .. killer road to bee traveling :-)
Check your chimney if something is blocking the flow you will get that wird reading an it will be difficult to get the flames right . Du you have a draft controller in the chimney an is it working properly
Sorry fore bad spelling :-)

It could be that capacitor on burner is not good, causeing blower not working proberly; Causing high temperature in the burner, causing the printboard in the burner breaking, or maybe also a problem in the burner control (I do not understand which control you replaced) It is not possibel to borrow a new control from someone ?
Replacing the capacitor is realy cheap and easy.
Burner print is also cheap (but a littel bit more diffiult to replace)

Do you have a CD with StokerKontrol program installed on your PC?

If you wish to be registered with it to StokerCloud server, simply contact Stokersoft on info@stokerkontrol.dk, remember to send your serial number, name and address in the email.

Hi again!

Took some quick pictures: https://picasaweb.google.com/1098796231 ... directlink

This capacitor - can anyone point out which one it is so I could get it replaced just to be sure.

It's the big white stuff on motor control, held by a bolt.
